A friend had given us a caterpillar who, under our care and attentive feeding, grew quite large before forming a cocoon.... Weeks later (although astonishingly quickly according to the person from whom we received the caterpillar), it was missing and then we found on the floor in another room this enormous moth, with a wingspan of probably ten inches-- clearly he must have flown, but it was quite baffling considering it seemed that he couldn't move his wings much at all.. could he have crawled all the way there?... We carefully took him outside to the butterfly bush where I set up the tripod..

Butterfly in July
Same butterfly bush that you might recognize from a couple other posts... new butterfly, and I might have actually used a tripod for some of these (it mostly doesn't seem worth setting it up considering how quickly a butterfly moves and leaves)...
2011 July
A bit discouraged, I haven't been inclined to post recently and have a growing collection of unseen photos... Last night, I chanced upon a kind friend whose genuine interest provided the necessary inspiration.. Here are the best photos from July of 2011... Also, per advice of another friend, I've dimmed the letters which spell out my name across each photo for this blog-- she insisted I eliminate them entirely, which might be done eventually, but for now my reluctance is still too strong..
