2009-07-12 -- First ever sold photograph

This was the first photograph which I have sold... It was purchased by Dan Smith of the Danielson Famile... The deal-maker was that it was coincidentally taken from the very same road where he had lived as a child...

I'm no entomologist, but...

Look in the sky!
It's a humming bird!
It's a plane-- er, butterfly...
No, it's.... . . .. .. . .it's.. . . . .... what the hell is it?

Please help identify this insect... It was found on the butterfly bush... if you were to compare it to the butterfly, photographed on August 2 and pictured below, you'd see many similarities... but it does look something like a bee.. and quite unlike a butterfly in that its wings are rather small and partially transparent and partially translucent.... If one were to study nothing but the flight pattern and rapid wing movement, one would likely surmise that this mysterious insect were a humming bird... Clearly, it is a mutant... quite grotesque yet gloriously beautiful...

Also, I think that the photo of the mysterious insect in which is it unfocused is apt to be unpopular--- however, it was my favorite of the bunch, so I included it--- just look at that negative space to the right and the way that the colors seem to line up horizontally...

p.s..... These photos are unlike anything I've done previously, but they were fun to take nonetheless--- get a butterfly bush for your garden.. For the last couple weeks, I've rarely seen it without a butterfly

UPDATE 8/25/10:
Those equally ignorant and curious to me can give thanks to my sister, Theresa, who has informed me that this insect is commonly known as the Hummingbird Clearwing Moth.
